- “I just had to write to share our amazing story. You know that we brought Wicket to you in desperation after 2 1/2 years of inappropriate voiding and stooling (several times every day) for which our local vet could find no solution. We tried a number of medications, but the improvements were slight and hardly outweighed the trauma (to her or to us!) of trying to deliver two pills twice a day. Although we had just about resigned ourselves to euthanasia (thankfully I never had the nerve to go through with it) you suggested we try one more medication before giving up.
Dr. Karnia--I can't begin to tell you what a difference it has made. When on the second day we had no evidence of urine or stool on the floor I had to believe it was coincidence. After all, I'm a nurse--these meds take time! But her streak continued with ZERO incidents from that day forward until the day we missed a dose. Sure enough, when we got home there was a little pile of stool on the floor. We went on vacation the week of Memorial Day with a pet sitter to watch the kitties (another great recommendation from your office), and that week she wasn't able to catch Wicket every day. Again, stool on the floor on the ‘no pill’ days, none on the others, and to date no urine mishaps at all.
It goes beyond her litter box habits though. She is in every way a different cat. More affectionate, more social, even cleaner. It's apparent now how little she was grooming herself--with or without the meds--and the difference is startling. It saddens me to think how depressed she must have been and for how long now that we can see a ‘before and after.’
